My Story

Growing up, I’ve always had the drive to find opportunities to earn and create something of value. In 2019, I co-founded a Christmas light installation service in Dallas, TX, with my best friend, Drew, who is now a student-athlete playing football at the United States Air Force Academy. What started as a small side hustle during our school holiday break evolved into a legitimate business known today as JD Light Co. LLC, which remains active and successful. Initially, we didn’t anticipate the business going far—it was simply a way to earn extra money. However, as we progressed through high school, our efforts began generating meaningful income. Life, however, grew busier for both of us. Drew’s commitment to the Air Force required his full attention, and I fully respected his dedication. As a result, I bought out his share of the company and now retain full ownership, continuing to build on the foundation we started together.

Many of you may be wondering how I came to create a Christmas light product and why I chose to do so. My inspiration arose directly from my hands-on experience working in the field installing holiday lights. During this time, I noticed several recurring issues within the industry, including the poor quality of products, high costs, and the overall inefficiency of traditional holiday lighting systems. I decided to focus on a specific type of Christmas light—holiday ground lights used to line sidewalks, driveways, and flowerbeds. Picture this: you drive to your local hardware store, spend time searching for the exact lights you want, then hunt for compatible stakes. Once back home, you’re faced with the tedious task of assembling everything. The reality is that no stakes on the market are specifically designed to work seamlessly with Christmas lights for ground installations. What’s currently available are flimsy, poorly designed, and overpriced stakes that fail to meet customer expectations. They break easily, don’t stay upright, and often need to be replaced year after year. This lack of quality and efficiency inspired me to develop a better solution—one that simplifies the process while providing a durable, high-quality product that meets the standards customers truly deserve.

To address these challenges, I created The LightSpike—a U.S. utility-patented holiday ground stake light. This innovative product is the first of its kind, offering a pre-assembled solution where the bulb is pre-screwed, and the lights are already connected to the stakes. With The LightSpike, customers no longer need to struggle with assembling lights onto flimsy stakes or dealing with the frustration of stakes that break or fail to stand upright. Our proprietary technology ensures that each LightSpike stands perfectly straight at a 180-degree angle, requires zero assembly, and can be installed in under two minutes. We offer 25- and 50-LED options in a variety of colors and patterns, providing flexibility and style to meet our customers' holiday lighting needs. The LightSpike is designed to transform the way people decorate their homes, making the process more efficient, reliable, and enjoyable.
